- Do I have to be in shape to try jiu-jitsu?
- You do not need to be in great shape, but you should be cleared by your doctor if you have old injuries or cardiovascular issues.

- I work shift work or have irregular work hours, how important is attendance?
- No problem, lots of us have irregular work hours and family responsibilities. Come to class whenever you can.

- What do I wear to class?
- For your first class just wear an old t-shirt and shorts (with a drawstring). Within a month of joining the club we will expect you to purchase a club uniform or ‘gi’.

- Yes, we expect you to buy a club uniform or ‘gi’ within one month of joining the club.

- Will I get hurt? Is it a dangerous sport?
- First of all, there is no striking in jiu-jitsu (e.g. punching or kicking) so you don’t have to worry about that.
- Based on our history, we experience way less injuries than other sports such as soccer, softball, or hockey.
- Occasionally an accident happens but the vast majority are minor sprains.

- We want you to be comfortable with your training partner. You always have to right refuse a partner, or to sit-out and watch a specific drill if we don’t have an appropriate partner for you.
