Mom’s Point of View
Jiu-jitsu is for everyone. But as a mom it truly is more for you than you know. No experience is necessary, you can get something life changing from training jiu-jitsu. This is my personal hobby and it is well worth it.
I have continued a five year journey with jiu-jitsu, it has helped me in so many ways. I have also created a strong bond with my jiu-Jitsu family. They are kind, gentle, inspiring, and encouraging.
I have so much fun I forget that I am working out. This does include cardio and strength training all while having fun.
I have found jiu-jitsu addicting, I find myself looking forward to training. I am way stronger and in better cardio shape than ever before.
Jiu-jitsu provides me with mental clarity. There is no to do list on the mat, and no outside worries creeping in. The relaxation and clarity that comes from this is priceless. It gives me the mental freedom to be a better mom and person when I leave!
I forget sometimes to do something only for yourself that makes my soul smile. Every day I step on the mat I find myself laughing, joking, and leaving way more joyful than when I entered.
I have built confidence in this crazy world where body positivity is exceptionally hard. After you have kids your body changes, it’s unavoidable. Jiu-Jitsu makes me appreciate how strong and powerful my body can be.
There is all shapes and sizes on the mats, we are valued and with everyone in a GI you get to focus on technique and improvement. Jiu-jitsu gives you a fundamental respect for what your body can do!
As a mom I like the idea of giving myself every advantage possible in the event I ever might have to defend myself. Jiu-jitsu has helped me feel more confident in an event I may need to do this in this crazy world.
Women (especially moms) should train jiu-jitsu. It will be hard. I have used jiu-jitsu as a tool to help develop perseverance and tenacity. There is always a group of people that encourage you to be better and challenge yourself. Jiu-Jitsu enriches your life and your parenting. You will be an example of strength and personal growth to your kids.
